The reign of Alexander II was a reform period and had a key influence on the development of the Russian Empire in the future. After the tragic death of the emperor, the formation of historical memory of him began through various practices: memorial, commemorative, etc. This article examines the process of forming and broadcasting to the masses (mainly peasant) the posthumous image of Alexander II in the official periodical press of the Ufa and Menzelin diocese in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The mass media of that period helped with great success to construct the image of imperial power both at the national and regional levels.
