QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE DETERMINATION IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

The research relevance is due to the fact that determination plays a significant role in the formation of referential properties of nominal groups of the English language, and also affects the process of understanding, interpretation of speech and the formation of the meaning of utterances in general. The research goal is to systematize the linguistic characteristics of qualitative and quantitative determination in various linguistic contexts. In the course of the study, the following tasks were solved: the scientific literature on the studied problems was analyzed; examples of qualitative and quantitative determination in the English language are considered; the conclusions are formulated. The methods of component, comparative, contextual and quantitative analysis were used. Particular attention was paid to the functioning of determinators in complex noun groups and their role in expressing various types of reference. The conclusions made it possible to deepen the understanding of the structure and semantics of English noun groups and shed light on the universal principles of determination in natural languages. The results obtained can be useful in the field of computational linguistics, natural language processing and English language teaching.
