SEMANTIC DOMINANTS AND POETICS OF N.L. TRAUBERG'S LYRICAL CYCLE "A WREATH OF SONNETS"

Tatiana Borisovna Bogatyreva  (Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor, Tula State University, Tula, Russia )

The author of the article analyzes two parts of N. L. Trauberg’s lyric cycle «A Wreath of Sonnets», written in free verse: «Explaining Sonnets» and «Historical and Biographical Sonnets». An analysis of the poetics of these texts leads the author to identify a superplot within this lyric block, which can be described as «the intense expectation of a home by characters who wander through a homeless world inhabited by strangers and alien people». The structural dominant of the cycle turns out to be the antithesis «domestic – homeless». The image of home in the cycle belongs to the existential space, with sensory perceived phenomena serving as the conduit to this space. «Homelessness» is formless and devoid of any trace of eternity. The characteristics of «homelessness» are «anti family», «anti feast» and «anti art». An important characteristic of «home» is «childlikeness» as the embodiment of a merciful heart and nobility. For Trauberg’s characters, the main character of Frances Eliza Hodgson Burnett’s book «Little Lord Fauntleroy» serves as the model of these qualities.

Keywords:lyrical cycle, N.L. Trauberg, wreath of sonnets, artistic space, antithesis.
