The article is devoted to considering the problem of the Red Army's awareness of the enemy before the Great Patriotic War - issues that, as a rule, are ignored when analyzing the preparation of the USSR for war. The author comes to the conclusion that the intelligence of the USSR gave fairly complete data on the upcoming enemy. The intelligence information of the USSR could be incomplete, belatedly give information on those changes that were carefully hidden, but in general presented an almost complete picture. The USSR knew its adversary, built armed forces (structurally and technically) for an inevitable clash with the Third Reich.
Keywords:Great Patriotic War, World War II, preparation of the USSR for war.
