THE TEACHING CORPORATION AT COUNTY THEOLOGICAL SCHOOLS OF THE VOLOGDA DIOCESE, 1814-1851: SOCIAL PORTRAIT

The reform of the primary education system for clergy’s children, carried out in the years of 1808-1814, led to the establishment of the county theological schools’ system which took the main part in the four-leveled system of theological education. The creation of educational institutions’ network required the involvement of a significant number of teachers with both seminary and academic backgrounds. This article attempts to create a collective portrait of theological schools’ teachers in the Vologda Diocese during the first period of such schools’ existence from 1814 to 1851. The main sources of the research are the teachers’ list records which are stored in both central and regional archives.
