The naissance of the great Provencal style: Master of the Aix Annunciation - Barthelemy d'Eyck

This article analyzes the origins of the style of painting of Provence in the middle of the 15th century, which was formed under the influence of “ars nova flandra”, and embodied in a complex web of "tradition" and "innovation" that coexist often simultaneously, and create their own French painting in the interpretation of the concept of traditional iconographic schemes .
