The problem of teacher transition to personality-oriented model of interaction has been presented in this article. Also there are identified the reasons that hinder this process, including the problem of required teacher competencies. There is presented a current state of preparation for the personality-oriented model of interaction on the basis of St.-Petersburg Academy of in-service pedagogical education.
