The role of the Soviet underwater forces of the Navy in the northern convoys of 1941-1945

The article deals with issues related to an objective understanding of the processes of formation and development of the Navy during the Great Patriotic War. An attempt is being made to investigate the role that the Soviet submarine forces of the Navy played in the northern convoys of 1941-1945. It is noted that Soviet submarines were almost half of the fleet warships, which had a limited composition of forces; A special role in the northern convoys during the Great Patriotic War was played by submarines such as "M". In conclusion, the author notes that the main task of the Soviet Navy, and in particular of the submarine forces, was not only actions on the enemy sea lines, but also ensuring the safe convoying of ships of the USSR and their allies.
