The aim of the article is to study English-speaking Internet slang to get a more complete understanding of the features of the choice of lexical, grammatical and stylistic language tools used in a networked environ-ment.
The object of research is communication in the Internet space, and the subject of research is the form of the language that exists in the network, the so-called Internet slang. The material of the research was the frag-ments of written discussions in English on various Internet sites.
In the process of interaction between oral and written speech, a special In-ternet slang was formed, characterized by grammatical simplifications, the introduction of new vocabulary, formed with the help of abbreviations that promote the rationalization of linguistic means, and the reflection of paraverbal means on the letter.
As a result of using descriptive, structural and quantitative methods of re-search, the author revealed the following patterns and tendencies inherent in the network language: preferential use of the Simple group time forms, the use of direct word order in interrogative sentences, omission of func-tion words, double negation, which brings the Internet slang closer to the oral speech.
The author selected the most widely used in Internet communications models of network slang, formed by abbreviation. The above specifics of Internet slang is understandable to any experienced user and facilitates the simplification of network communications.
