The potential of the idealized image of translation

Lukinova Marina Yurievna  (associate Professor, Crimean Federal University. V. I. Vernadsky)

The authors of the article attempt to consider the potential of an idealized image of translation in solving actual translation problems in terms of the ratio of the ideal - the canonical text of the original and its closest idealized translation version. The question of what makes a good literary translation postulates an idealized image of translation activity as a subject of study. The methodological base is provided by the use of idealization as one of the methods of knowledge, which allows isolating the concept of the general, the individual and the particular in the translation activity. Translation activity is shaped by time and has multiple character therefore it is especially relevant in transition societies. The specificity of literary translation is determined, on the one hand, by its place among other types of translation, and on the other, by its relation to the original literary work. Between the original and the result of the translation process lies the “re-expression” of that life, which is enshrined in the images of the translated work. These processes of “re-expression” are the numerous manifestations of the Idea of the author of the original text. In addition to the components of the idealized image of translation that emerged as a result of the evolution of the principles and strategies of translation from antiquity to modernity, with an emphasis on transitional periods, it is necessary to find out how and what audience will evaluate the translation. Thus, the stated topic is of current importance due to certain historical, literary, aesthetic, socio-cultural and methodological reasons.

Keywords:translation, society in transition, the idealization, the rate of translation, receptive aesthetics.
