This article examines the stylistic device of comparison and metaphor in the novel “Don't tell Alfred” by Nancy Mitford. Individual author's concepts are studied, conceptual categories are distinguished, which allows us to explore the author's picture of the writer's world. The article presents theoretical and practical data proving that the category of comparison and metaphors are one of the main figurative means in the work of the English writer Nancy Mitford.
