Professional and personal selfdevelopment of a future teacher in the context of a competent approach

The article examines the process of self-development of a future teacher in the context of a competence-based approach. In modern conditions, a future teacher should be endowed with such qualities as plasticity, mobility, originality in solving professional problems, the ability to quickly master new technologies and teaching methods, to fully reveal their professional and personal potential. The need for professional and personal self-development of a future teacher is determined by modern requirements for his professional competence and readiness to regulate his activities in response to rapid social transformations. The key meaningful characteristics of the teacher's professional and personal self-development are value orientations and personal meanings, self-esteem, the ability to set long-term goals and achieve them.
