Reflection of the duality of the concept "Fire" in the language pictures of the world

The article contains the results of an analysis aimed at establishing the duality of the concept "Fire" in the Russian and English worldviews. The conceptual analysis was based on the model proposed by V.I. Karasikom (singling out the value, figurative and conceptual aspects). In the course of the lexicographic analysis, it was found that the mismatched conceptual areas in the Russian and English worldviews affect the different understanding of fire, which is considered as a manifestation, a tool in the English worldview, and as a physical process in the Russian one. An analysis of individual examples from the paremiological fund of the Russian and English languages, as well as from the National Corpuses of these languages, showed that in terms of the conceptual representation of fire in the two compared pictures of the world, there are significant similarities, since fire is equally regarded as danger, trouble, difficulty.
