The article analyzes the spatial vision in B.L. Pasternak's work and its connection with the category of space in N.V. Gogol's artistic world. The singularity of Gogol 's spatial vision was noted by all researchers of the writer 's poetics from A. Bely to Yu. Lotman. They drew attention to his dynamism, his ability to unexpected transformations, shifting plans and, in general, the destruction of linearity. In typological terms, Gogol's vision of space is akin to the Baroque culture. The actualization of Gogol's vision of space occurred and was developed in the culture of Russian modernism of the 1910s and 1930s. Pasternak's spatial vision became one of the variants of the Gogol type development. We are not talking about direct succession, but typological kinship. Pasternak perceives space as a living organic element that generates phenomena and objects. It is characterized by increased dynamism and eroticism. A number of examples demonstrate the kinship of Pasternak's vision of space to Gogol's.
