The article analyzes the features of lullabies in Kumyk folklore and Kumyk poetry for children of the second half of the 20th – early 21st centuries, and studies the influence of folk lullabies on the formation of lullabies as a separate genre in Kumyk literature. Despite their differences, both literary and folk lullabies share a common idea: to lull children to sleep, create a nurturing atmosphere, and reflect a mother's unconditional love.
