The purpose of this article was to examine the attitudes of school students toward distance learning in emergency pandemic conditions and their preferences when compared to face-to-face learning. Data obtained from a survey of students showed that students did not find distance learning particularly engaging and interactive, feeling social isolation due to the lack of communication and interaction with peers and teachers. The majority of students preferred traditional learning to distance learning, arguing that it was easier to learn, concentrate, understand and perform tasks in the format of face-to-face learning. All students noted the friendly atmosphere in the classroom, the possibility of free communication and the fact that it is much easier to get answers to their questions in face-to-face learning. The students believe that despite the disadvantages, online learning may become more widespread in the future.
