This publication identifies the cognitive capabilities of bibliometry in historiographical research, which made it possible on the basis of the system of scientific- to characterize the sectoral and qualification composition of dissertations on the history of emigration from Russia (distribution by degrees, branches of science and specialties of researchers), the dynamics of defenses, the activities of centers for the study of Russian abroad (cities and organizations where defenses took place, scientific schools of historians of emigration), to identify the characteristic features and trends in the study of Russian emigration on different historical stages of the national history; the effectiveness of the use of bibliometry for the analysis of the corpus of dissertation research on the phenomenon of emigration is proved.
The purpose of our research is to study the topics of dissertation research in the context of scientific specialties and branches of science through the bibliometric method. The object specifies the differentiation of dissertations by specialty, the subject defines the bibliometric method.
