MULTIMODALITY IN THE CONTEXT OF INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH: HISTORICAL AND THEORETICAL ANALYSIS

The article examines multimodality as a property of reality, as a means of transmitting and perceiving information, and as a subject of study of various sciences in the modern multidisciplinary scientific space. It is emphasized that multimodality is not a new phenomenon, since reality itself is multimodal, and it is common and natural for a person to perceive it through various senses. It is noted that multimodality is considered in modern science at the intersection of social semiotics, cognitive and communicative linguistics, linguopragmatics, psychology, literary criticism and other humanities disciplines. The use of approaches and methods from different sciences provides a synergistic effect in the analysis of modern multimodal phenomena.
