The object of this study is the influence of the English language on the formation of Indonesian. The subject of the study covers the extra-linguistic factors that determine the development of the language in Indonesia. This study is based on a linguistic analysis of the influence of the English language, borrowing its lexical units into the Indonesian language. The analysis of three extra-linguistic factors, including historical, socio-economic, cultural, is carried out. These factors are important to study how English, which is not an official language in Indonesia, plays an important and significant role in formation of modern national language of Indonesia. The research uses general scientific methods of description and analysis. The research contributes to the study of the peculiarities of modern languages formation.
