ON CARNIVALIZATION IN HEYDOK’S NOVEL "THE MANCHU PRINCESS"

The world of Manchuria in Haddock’s novel, which has transgressed the rules of civilization, presents vigorous vitality and carnivalesque style, which resonates with Bakhtin’s theories of carnivalized poetics. This paper explains the carnivalized narrative of Haddock’s novels from three aspects: carnivalized characters, carnivalized behaviors, and carnivalized squares, hich not only reflects Haddock’s aesthetic observation of primitive and vigorous vitality, but lso shows to a certain extent the uninhibited life style.
