FROM THE HISTORY OF THE FORMATION OF THE SOVIET HISTORICAL CONCEPT : DISCUSSION ON THE CRITERIA FOR THE PERIODIZATION OF THE HISTORY OF RUSSIA

the article considers proposals of Soviet historians on the criteria for periodization of the history of Russia, expressed during discussion in the late 1940s. Particular attention is paid to the main stages of the process of developing a periodization variant, which formed the basis of the Soviet historical concept in the middle – second half of the 20th century. The authors summarized the attempts to create a new Soviet historical concept, in the center of which was the question of the criteria and principles of periodization as having an important methodological significance.
