This article examines the issue of socio-economic and political development of the Yelisuy Sultanate, the main population of which were Dagestani-speaking peoples. The generalizing works on the history of the peoples of the Caucasus, including Dagestan and Azerbaijan, do not sufficiently study the genesis and features of the socio-economic and political development of the Dagestani-speaking peoples of this region.
