This article examines the literary works of one of the most notable representatives of the Tikhvin culture - Isaakiy Petrovich Mordvinov, published by the Alexander Nevsky Society of Temperance. Previously, these works did not receive due attention from historians, but their truly valuable content became obvious. These works allow us to consider not only the plots of the most famous works of I.P. Mordvinov, but also his stylistics, as well as their place in the context of Russian literature of the late 19th - early 20th centuries. The author of the article comes to the conclusion about the originality of Isaak Petrovich’s work, as well as his significant role in the development of fiction in Russia.
