The purpose of the article is to analyze the organization of self-training of students as a component of independent educational and cognitive activity in the study of foreign languages. The article reveals the essence of self-training as one of the important types of student activity, methodological aspects of organizing self-training of students in the process of studying a foreign language. It is concluded that didactically effective organization of self-training of students at a university when studying a foreign language creates favorable conditions for activating their educational and cognitive activity, stimulating cognitive processes, developing cognitive independence and creative potential.
