The article is devoted to the pedagogical aspects of profiling of domestic education from the position of the generational approach in historical retrospect. The generational cohorts are described taking into account significant historical events, socio-cultural and socio-economic realities of Russian reality from the mid-20th to the early 21st century. The value profiles of generations are revealed in the context of educational paradigms that determine the pedagogical ideas of differentiation and profiling of the education system. The stages of profiling of school education from the position of the generational approach are described. It is shown that the value resource of patriotism, social usefulness of society and stability, transmitted by the older generation of Soviet people of 1943-1965 to the last Soviet generation of 1965-1984, has been replaced by the individualistic worldview of the modern digital generation of schoolchildren. The profiling of school education at the present stage occurs in the context of global digitalization of public relations and digital renewal of education. It is concluded that the organization of specialized events in a modern school in order to reduce the intergenerational gap and use the positive experience of past generations should be carried out on the basis of the principles of intergenerational interaction.
