JOURNALISM AND EXPLOITS: REFLECTION OF THE MILITARY ACHIEVEMENTS OF RUSSIAN SOLDIERS IN THE PRE-REVOLUTIONARY PRESS

Stolpnik Dmitry Vladislavovich  (postgraduate student of the Department of National History of Bryansk State University named after Academician I.G. Petrovsky )

The article is devoted to the study of the reflection of the military merits of Russian soldiers in the pre-revolutionary periodical press during the First World War. The analysis examines the main genre-thematic areas of journalism that contributed to the formation of the image of the Russian soldier as a hero, a staunch defender of the Fatherland and a bearer of national virtues. Special attention is paid to the role of state censorship and propaganda mechanisms aimed at creating and replicating a patriotic narrative, as well as their impact on public consciousness and the morale of the population in a protracted military conflict. Based on the materials of newspapers and magazines from 1914-1917, the article examines how media texts functioned as a tool for social mobilization, strengthening national identity and constructing collective historical memory. Journalism is considered not only as a means of transmitting information about the course of military operations, but also as an essential component of state ideological policy, which contributed to the legitimization of military efforts and the consolidation of society around patriotic values. The work uses an integrated approach that includes methods of historical, cultural and journalistic analysis, which allows us to identify the deep mechanisms of the influence of the press on the formation of public sentiment. The results of the study contribute to a more complete understanding of the role of the pre-revolutionary press in the process of preserving and broadcasting the image of the Russian soldier-hero, which is an important aspect of studying the social dynamics of wartime and understanding the events of the First World War in a historical perspective.
