The purpose of the study is to study the semantic proximity of reciprocity and co-operation in the comitative constructions of the functional-semantic category in modern English. The objectives of the study were to analyze comitative mutual constructions and establish their specifics in the designation of collaboration. Comitative reciprocal constructions are peripheral means of denoting cooperation and reciprocity, since their main features are vague and vague. The relevance of this work is emphasized, since the concept of "joint activity", being the result of joint efforts, occupies an important place in human life. Joint activity in modern English is expressed through various (morphological, lexical, syntactic) ways. As for the functional-semantic category, the compatibility of activities, it should be noted its complex field structure, which includes not only the thermal conjunction, which is the main structuring property, but also the intersection of the semantics of reciprocity and compatibility. The scientific novelty of the study is to prove the existence of a functional and semantic category of compatibility and reciprocity in modern English. The results obtained make it possible to expand knowledge of general linguistics and theoretical grammar of the English language when studying the functional and semantic category of joint activity.
