The article presents the organizational and substantive aspects of the experimental study of the level of speech development of students with intellectual disabilities. The authors describe the procedure of the ascertaining experiment, the evaluation criteria and the quantitative and qualitative results, and draw conclusions and generalizations. As a result, it was established that children of this category have a complex underdevelopment of all speech components.
