The article discusses the possibilities and advantages of introducing propaedeutic principles into the process of teaching English in secondary school, and also analyzes the theoretical foundations of propaedeutics and their practical application in the context of teaching English. The relevance of the research topic is due to the increasing demands on the level of English proficiency in modern society and the need to improve the efficiency of teaching English at school. The purpose of the study is to systematize the principles of propaedeutics in the context of teaching English at school. The theoretical foundations of propaedeutics in pedagogy are analyzed. The experience of applying propaedeutic principles in teaching English at school is studied. The obtained results are systematized. The following conclusions are formulated: the incorporation of propaedeutic principles into the educational paradigm of the English language allows to significantly optimize the educational process. Primary familiarization with basic concepts, step-by-step delivery of information, visualization and consideration of individual learning strategies form the basis of quality education. Propaedeutic methodology promotes the formation of learning motivation in teaching English, the development of cognitive functions and the improvement of academic performance of schoolchildren.
