The relevance of working with a huge amount of data is increasing, since all intellectual professions are closely related to the processing and memorization of constantly replenished and updated information flows. A large amount of material needs to be studied, starting from the first year of mastering the specialty, and until the end of his career. Arrays of data are published both on printed media and on digital devices, while they are generated, among other things, by artificial intelligence, which determines the formation of information and digital competencies. The expediency of developing these skills in the learning process is determined by the specifics of modern work reality related to the search, analysis, centralization and optimization of information – such trends cover both technical, natural science, and humanitarian professions. The most effective methods of developing skills in working with Big Data are those based on active learning strategies. It is important to ensure the successful development of the material through the active participation of students in combination with the development of skills in working with digital technologies (artificial intelligence), in special programs designed to work with tables, analytics and structured data, as well as the formation of critical thinking in a digital environment.
