ENGLISH BORROWINGS IN FRENCH POLITICAL DISCOURSE

The article presents an analysis of English borrowings widely used in French political discourse. Using the methods of content analysis, lexico-semantic analysis, generalization and systematization, the features and linguistic characteristics of English borrowings are revealed. Classifications of borrowed units have been developed based on two principles – the degree of adaptation in French and thematic relevance. The results obtained have theoretical significance in terms of the development of the theory of borrowing and the study of institutional types of discourse. They can be used in the practice of translation, intercultural communication, and public speaking.
