This article examines the interpretation of ancient culture and philosophical thought in the creative legacy of the 18th-century Russian thinker Mikhail Mikhailovich Shcherbatov. The study focuses on the reception of classical ideas and images in his literary and journalistic works. Particular attention is paid to a comparative analysis of the transformation of ancient ideals of state structure, virtue, and public morality as interpreted by Shcherbatov. The author examines how classical historical and philosophical models were adapted to the context of 18th-century Russian realities, revealing the originality of the thinker's worldview. The novelty of this work lies in its comprehensive approach to the study of Shcherbatov's receptive strategies, revealing the deep intertextual connections between the ancient tradition and his own philosophical and journalistic works.
