THE CORRESPONDENCE OF EVGENY PERFETSKY WITH A.A. SHAKHMATOV AS A SOURCE ON THE HISTORY OF RUSSIAN SCIENCE AND CULTURAL TIES WITH TRANSCARPATHIA

The article examines the epistolary heritage of the young researcher E.Yu. Perfetsky, addressed to Academician A.A. Shakhmatov, in the context of the scientific and cultural life of the early 20th century. The letters illuminate Perfetsky's field research in Ugor Rus (Transcarpathia), his contacts with local intellectuals, the problems of studying the history and culture of the region, and Shakhmatov's role as a scientific mentor and organizer of academic support. Based on an analysis of the correspondence, the process of formation of Perfetsky's scientific interests, his methodological approaches to the study of Ugor-Russian historiography, as well as the difficulties associated with the political situation in Austria-Hungary are reconstructed. Particular attention is paid to the project to create a «History of Ugor-Russian Historiography» and Shakhmatov's role in organizing financial and expert support for Perfetsky's research.
