MOSQUE AS A CULT BUILDING FOR MUSLIMS

The article covers the issues of the emergence of education in Bashkiria. As a Muslim territory, the population could receive knowledge mainly in religious institutions, which included mektebs (primary schools) and madrasas (higher education). The mosques were distinguished by their architecture, usually made of wood, and less often of stone. The second part of the article focuses on a more in-depth study of the mosques built and operated in the city of Ufa. Not all of the described religious buildings have survived to this day, which makes the research results even more significant for historians and local historians.
