PROBLEMS OF UNDERSTANDING AND USING RUSSIAN PRONOUNS OF THE THIRD PERSON BY CHINESE STUDENTS DUE TO THE LACK OF GRAMMATICAL GENDER IN THE CHINESE LANGUAGE

Vasichenko Kristina Vladimirovna  (Senior Lecturer, Phd, Xi'an University of Foreign Languages, China, Shaanxi Province, Xi'an City )

The article is devoted to the analysis of the difficulties faced by Chinese students in mastering Russian personal and possessive pronouns of the third person («he», «she», «it», «his», «her»). The main reason for errors is the complete absence of a grammatical gender category in Chinese, where the pronoun t remains gender- and gender-neutral in oral speech, and possessiveness is expressed by the unchangeable particle de. This leads to persistent interference: substitution of «he»/»she», incorrect use of «it», ignoring the coordination of possessive pronouns according to the gender of the possessed object and loss of reference in texts with several antecedents. Based on the contrasting comparison of the Russian and Chinese languages, typical errors were identified and methodological techniques for overcoming them were proposed: parallel translation, correspondence tables, color coding of the genus, working with mini texts of multiple reference. The need for a systematic contrastive approach is emphasized throughout the entire stage of teaching RCT to a Chinese audience.
