This article examines the development and reconstruction of the Kursk city center from 1964 to 1982. The study draws on materials from the state archives of the Kursk Region, as well as relevant scientific literature and monographs, allowing for a detailed examination of changes in the urban environment, architectural solutions, and urban planning initiatives of those years. The author applied a historical and documentary analysis method, studying archival documents, city development plans, building construction and reconstruction projects, city government reports, and contemporaries' memoirs. This allowed her to reconstruct the dynamics of urban transformation and identify key urbanization trends of that period. The study revealed that during the specified time period, the center of Kursk underwent significant transformations aimed at improving infrastructure, enhancing the comfort of residents, and creating new public spaces. This new stage of the city's development was accompanied by the commissioning of buildings constructed in the style of Soviet modernized architecture. Standard buildings were combined with unique public projects, shaping a new image of the city center. These architectural innovations reflected the general trend of Soviet urban development in the late 20th century, characterized by large-scale projects and the desire to create a modern look for Soviet cities.
