This article is dedicated to military leader and French Marshal Louis Nicolas Davout in the course of the occupation of the city of Mogilev during the Patriotic War of 1812. Analyzing the events of Napoleon's campaign on Russian soil, the modern reader can understand that the Iron Marshal played a key role not only as a commander on the battlefield among his soldiers, but also as a skilled and capable political figure, as Davout briefly served also as the military governor of Mogilev, which is a fact of considerable interest.
