CONCEPTUAL PROJECTION OF CULTURAL CONNOTATION IN THE TRANSLATION OF ANTHROPOCENTRIC METAPHORICAL MODELS

The article investigates the role of cultural connotation in the translation of anthropocentric metaphorical models. The aim of the work is to analyze the strategies of conceptual projection that consider the national-cultural specifics of linguistic worldviews. The research methodology includes a comparative analysis of translations of literary texts from English into Russian, as well as linguocognitive and contrastive approaches. The results show that metaphorical projection is preserved in 83% of cases but requires modification in 17% due to cultural differences. It has been established that the primary sources of variation are cultural connotations (47% of cases). The connotative content of metaphors is analyzed using models such as MAN is an ANIMAL, MAN is a PLANT, MAN is a SUPERNATURAL BEING, MAN is FOOD, and MAN is a HUMAN, which reveal cases of cognitive dissonance arising from differing cultural perceptions of images. Five strategies for translating connotative content are identified, among which modulation and remetaphorization are the most effective, ensuring the adaptation of the source image to the system of the target culture. The scientific significance of the work lies in the development of a model for the cultural adaptation of connotation in translation, contributing to the achievement of equivalence at the conceptual and connotative levels.
