MASTER PLANS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF KURCHATOV AND ZHELEZNOGORSK, KURSK REGION (1964-1982)

This article examines the history of urban development in the cities of Kurchatov and Zheleznogorsk in the Kursk region from 1964 to 1982. Based on materials from the state archives of the Kursk region, the general plans for the development of the specified settlements, approved by the authorities of the USSR, are examined, including the stages of planning, construction of residential areas, social infrastructure facilities and industrial enterprises. The article also examines the role of scientific research and design institutes in shaping the spatial development of the region. It summarizes the effectiveness of plan implementation and assesses the contribution of master plans to the current state of the Kurchatov and Zheleznogorsk urban agglomerations.
