THE PROBLEM OF THE “OTHER” AND THE “SUBALTERN” IN POSTCOLONIAL DISCOURSE: LINGUOPOETIC AND CULTURAL STUDIES ASPECTS

The article is devoted to the analysis of the category of the "Other" or "subaltern" in the context of postcolonial literary studies. It examines key concepts of E. Said and G. Spivak, mechanisms of identity construction through the opposition "Own — Alien," and highlights criteria by which the categories of "subaltern - hero" in postcolonial literature are formed. Particular attention in the article is given to the ways of representing subjectivity in Anglophone Indian literature.
