The subject of the study is the experience of implementing artificial intelligence technologies in the system of teacher professional development at Samara State Social and Pedagogical University. The article examines specific tools of intelligent support for the educational process: adaptive learning management systems, intelligent chatbots, automated systems for analyzing pedagogical practices. Changes in the structure of educational programs, transformation of the methodologist’s role, and formation of new teacher competencies in the context of digitalization of professional development are analyzed. Based on a two-year experiment (2022–2024), factors of effectiveness and risks of using artificial intelligence in additional professional education are identified. The conclusion is made about the necessity of developing an institutional policy for implementing AI technologies taking into account regional specifics and the profile of the pedagogical university
