MARSHAL DAVOUT AND THE TRANSITION FROM THE CORPS D’OBSERVATION DE L’ELBE TO THE FIRST CORPS OF THE GRANDE ARMÉE IN THE SUMMER OF 1812

The following article presents a good number of sources that describe the administrative and structural evolution of the French Corps d'Observation de l'Elbe into the First Corps of the Grande Armée in 1812. In addition to the main points expressed by the author, the article brings to the attention of the Russian reader the contribution made in the field by a wide range of works published by foreign researches, many of which have not yet been translated into Russian.
