THE GENESIS OF EDUCATIONAL POLICY IN THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA: HISTORY EDUCATION AS A SPACE FOR IDEOLOGICAL CONSTRUCTION

The article analyzes the process of institutionalizing history education in the Republic of Korea. The author examines the evolution of educational policy from the period of the First Republic to the era of Park Chung-hee's rule, paying special attention to the regulatory and legal frameworks and curricula. Based on an analysis of the 1949 "Education Act," the textbook certification system, and the content of the curricula (the First, Second, and Third National Curricula), the author identifying the mechanisms for transforming historical knowledge into a tool of indoctrination.
