The use of communicative resources in English language teaching on the elementary level

Communication permeates the whole essence of human existence in society especially for those who participate in a number of communicative actions with others. Of course, communication resources such as spoken language, material artifacts, movement and gesture are recontextualized into a pedagogical context. Here we will look at a number of studies related to the influence of gestures on the teaching of a foreign language at the initial stage. The results of this study suggest that gestures and their meanings can be configured in completely different ways. There are different descriptions of gestures that derive from different theoretical bases, but we will look at them with the example of two studies - McNeill and Hood that were used to study the types of gestures used and their functions as well as to consider how these two descriptions can complement each other.
