Mass sports enable people to improve their health, improve physical development, physical fitness, and actively relax. Mass sports of the Russian population is one of the priority social tasks of the state. The growth in the involvement of the population in sports corresponds to the tasks associated with the need to overcome the current situation of deteriorating health, the physical development of the population, and the lag in the use of modern innovative sports technologies. The development of mass sports in modern Russian society is considered in the article as a psychological and pedagogical problem. In this regard, research interest lies in the field of topical issues of the psychology of motivation, attitude, self-attitude, manifestations of the value-semantic and emotional-volitional spheres of the personality, the development of values and semantic formations of the personality involved in sports. According to the authors, in order to increase the level of involvement of Russians in mass sports, it is necessary to organize a special complex work using innovative technologies aimed at changing attitudes towards sports, developing Russians' ideas about a healthy lifestyle.
