The article analyzes of the discussion issues of methodological support for the design and implementation of social-project activities in modern conditions. The problems and contradictions of scientific and theoretical approaches to determining the theoretical and methodological foundations of social design are considered. Conclusions are made regarding the importance of project and research methods in the implementation of the strategy of effective social development of territories.
