THE RELEVANCE OF STUDYING RUSSIAN SLANG AND JARGON FOR CHINESE LEARNERS

The study substantiates the relevance of integrating slang and jargon into Russian as a Foreign Language (RFL) courses for Chinese learners. A mixed-methods design was employed, combining corpus analysis of authentic student utterances, receptive and productive testing, and teacher interviews. The research identifies systematic difficulties in interpreting pragmatic and evaluative aspects of slang and recurrent transformational errors in translation. The effectiveness of a modular pedagogical approach is demonstrated; the approach includes diagnostic procedures, corpus-based analytical tasks, translational exercises and project-based productive practice. Institutional support, continuous updating of digital corpora and professional development for instructors are recommended. A multifaceted assessment framework focused on register appropriateness, semantic accuracy and justification of linguistic choices, together with periodic monitoring of instructional outcomes, is proposed.
