HOW THE PERIODICAL PRESS AND PUBLISHING BUSINESS WERE ESTABLISHED IN THE ORYOL PROVINCE IN THE LATE XIXTH AND EARLY XXTH CENTURIES

In the article, the author reveals the history of the creation of periodicals and publishing in the Orel province of the late XIX - early XX centuries; what increasing role periodicals play in the cultural and educational development of the province; what difficulties publishers and individuals had to face in opening printing houses, provincial and county newspapers; what kind of articles appear in print how the population treats books and popular literature sold in bookstores; who was a correspondent for articles and essays of the periodical press. The article shows a natural connection between the economic development of the province, the growth of transport, on the one hand, and the spread of cultural contacts, periodicals, on the other.
