The article is devoted to the recruits drafted into the active army by the Vladivostok city military service presence. The purpose of the study is to compile a socio-cultural portrait of a conscript based on the data of the admission form lists. The documents of the Russian State Historical Archive of the Far East (RGIA DV) are used as sources. The information of 267 – conscripted recruits has been collected. It was revealed that the majority of conscripts by nationality were Russians (Great Russians, Little Russians and Belarusians). Only 4% of the conscripts were natives of the Amur Region. Most of the conscripts were single, and among the married there were also many children. By class, 62% of the recruits were peasants, by occupation before the army they were laborers, artisans and craftsmen, who mainly worked on the construction of the Vladivostok fortress. 50% of the conscripts could read and write. These studies cover only a part of the recruits' personal files, therefore, in order to fully create a socio-cultural portrait of a Amur soldier called up for military service, further research is envisaged in this area.
