ON THE TEXT TONALITY OF OFFICIAL BUSINESS TEXT

The article covers the text tonality in relation to content of some German commercial letters as an example of an official business text. The text tonality (subjective modality) is a text category that expresses the author's subjective attitude in this case, the one in relation to the content and the recipient of letters. The article examines and analyses the language means that implement the tonal structure, it identifies direct and indirect forms of the imperative mood, grammatical, lexical and stylistic means, psychological and rhetorical techniques, compositional techniques related to expressivity. It exemplifies situational phrases and expressions that increase the effectiveness of communication.
